The Keweenaw

Of course, we’re a little bias but the Keweenaw (the most northern peninsula in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula) is the best place on earth. To back that up we’ve lived in two other states (Oregon and Washington) and came back to this spot. The people in the Keweenaw are kind, smart, and doing cool things. The geography of this place is like no other part of Michigan (Google “keweenaw fault” if you need further convincing). It’s worth a visit and if you’re lucky enough — you’ll come back often!

Choose Your Own Adventure

We love this cabin and the area! So we put together a list of our fav #keweenawadventures so you can enjoy your trip and make enough memories to hold you over until you come back the next time.

The History

The cabin was built in the 60’s by a family with roots in Illinois that liked to vacation in Frankfurt, Mi. Once they discovered the Keweenaw, they didn’t look back. Initially the family camped on the property and saved up to build the cabin. When they built, they went all in. With blueprints made in Portland and lumber shipped from the PNW, the cabin was constructed with love and designed with more. Featuring a luxe vintage interior from the 70s, the orange countertops, brown appliances and coordinating details were impeccable.

We purchased the cabin in November 2018 for a little R&R near some of our favorite things: Copper Harbor mountain biking, Mt. Bohemia skiing, hikes and waterfalls.
Since the cabin had been relatively untouched (used by the previous owners as an occasional getaway spot), we embarked on a 7-month remodel and made our new cabin available for vacation rentals in summer of 2019. See our renovation photo gallery here!
